Wyndham Expands Upscale Portfolio with New Hotel in Thailand

Pattaya, Thailand (21 December 2017) – Wyndham Hotel Group is expanding the presence of its upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts® brand in Thailand with a new location confirmed for the growing resort city of Pattaya.

The five-star Wyndham Atlas Wongamat Pattaya is a US$25 million development owned by Habitat Group under a franchise agreement with Wyndham Hotel Group. Construction of the project will commence in the third quarter of 2018 and is expected to be completed in early 2020.

Pattaya is located within the Chonburi province, which has seen increased development thanks to Thailand’s new Eastern Economic Corridor Policy. The government expects to spend US$43 billion to improve infrastructure including the expansion of U-Tapao International Airport. The resort destination is two hours from Bangkok which has already seen an impressive growth in tourism with eight million visitor arrivals in the first half of 2017, a five per cent increase from the first half of 2016.

“Wongamat is a fantastic destination for both family and leisure travellers looking for a tranquil resort getaway in Pattaya. We are confident that the upscale Wyndham Atlas Wongamat will be well placed to cater to increasingly discerning travellers looking for stylish accommodation while enjoying easy access to all that Pattaya has to offer,” said David Wray, Vice President of Acquisitions and Business Development, Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim.

Located in the upscale Wongamat district, Wyndham Atlas Wongamat will offer easy access to a pristine beach, shopping malls and local eateries. The hotel will offer 192 guest rooms, ranging from deluxe rooms to junior suites and one-bedroom suites, each designed with floor-to-ceiling windows opening out to views of the sea and downtown Pattaya. In-room amenities will include international power sockets, work desks and high speed complimentary Wi-Fi, ensuring guests will be well-connected during their stay.

The hotel’s architectural design is inspired by “naklua” which is Thai for salt fields. The area was once home to salt farms and is now inhabited by small fishing communities. Wyndham Atlas Wongamat aims to draw a connection to its heritage and community through the use of natural materials such as wood and stone, making guests feel the comforts of nature within the enclosed areas of the hotel.

Guests will also enjoy the hotel’s spectacular views from the rooftop swimming pool surrounded by a spacious open-air deck and a pool bar overlooking tranquil Wongamat Beach. It will also offer a rooftop garden and terrace, a restaurant, private lounge, fitness centre and meeting spaces.

The hotel will join eight Wyndham Hotel Group hotels and resorts located across key destinations in Thailand, including Khao Lak, Bangkok and Phuket.

Once opened, Wyndham Atlas Wongamat will participate in Wyndham Rewards®, the simple-to-use, revolutionary loyalty program that offers members a generous points earning structure along with a flat, free-night redemption rate. Information is available at www.wyndhamrewards.com.
