Wyndham Debuts Ramada in South Australia with Signing of New Hotel in Playford

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA (5 June 2019) – Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific has expanded its management footprint in South Australia with the signing of an agreement to manage Ramada by Wyndham Playford Northern Adelaide, a stylish new property planned for the heart of Adelaide’s booming north.

Construction on the circa $90 million development is scheduled to commence in July this year, with the hotel’s opening scheduled for the first quarter of 2021. The site is within easy walking distance of the Civic Centre and Shedley Theatre, Prince George Plaza, Grenville Hub and Playford Arena. The hotel will operate as a Ramada under an agreement between Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and property owner, Prizac Developments

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has named Wyndham Destinations and its Australian subsidiary, Resort Management by Wyndham, as its preferred hotel operator in Australia. Under this partnership, Resort Management by Wyndham will provide management services to Ramada by Wyndham Playford. Wyndham Destinations and its subsidiaries currently manage 45 properties across Australia and South East Asia.

“Adelaide is a market we have been intent on entering and we are proud to expand our management portfolio to the South Australian capital through this new Ramada hotel,” said Warren Cullum, Vice President of Hotel and Resort Operations – South Pacific. “Playford is a strategic location: it is emerging as the gateway to the regional areas in South Australia’s north and is becoming a major hub for tourism and business in its own right. This sleek, stylish property reflects the Ramada brand’s reputation for excellence and it will set the standard for accommodation in Playford as the area grows.”

Upon opening, Ramada Playford will boast a collection of 205 well-appointed rooms and impressive facilities, including a swimming pool, gym, restaurant and sports bar, along with meeting and conference spaces. It will become the first Ramada hotel in South Australia.

“We are pleased to partner with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to debut the Ramada brand in Adelaide and create a state-of-the-art hotel in such an important hub for the State. The development will set a benchmark for the planned infrastructure to take place across the city over the next five years,” said Andrew Russell-Price, Managing Director, Prizac Developments.

Playford is one of the fastest growing areas in South Australia and is tipped to become the CBD of Adelaide’s north, with the population expected to expand from 96,000 to 135,000 by 2036. The hotel’s launch will coincide with a significant expansion of Playford’s infrastructure, including the $885 million Northern Connector Expressway and a $40 million ice sport and recreation centre.

“The agreement with Wyndham brings this world-class hotel another step closer to becoming an iconic landmark in our CBD,” said Playford’s Mayor, Glenn Docherty. “For our community, it is not just a hotel; it is a symbol of our future economic prosperity and the opportunities that it represents.”

Prizac Developments has appointed award-winning Carlo Pennino of MPH Architects, a boutique South Australian-based architectural firm, which undertakes projects in various sectors including corporate, education, civic, hospitality and master planning. Consulting and asset management services are being provided by Sonia Lefevre from Hotellerie.
