Club Wyndham Denarau Island Hosts Cooking Masterclass

NADI, FIJI (25 SEPTEMBER, 2020): Club Wyndham Denarau Island today hosted the live streamed launch of MASTER CLASS FIJI 2020 – directed by Chef Valentin Corchado – which was viewed locally and around the world.

The hospitality identity coordinated a four-day masterclass event in Port Denarau in 2017 which attracted almost 122,000 viewers locally and internationally online and provided scholarships to the best emerging talent.

“I was once again thrilled to work alongside talented chefs from Fiji’s hospitality sector. We were very excited to have the Executive Pastry Chef from Kokomo Private Island Resort Jon Gladston and our previous scholarship winner Cajetina Mua present a delicious and creative dessert whilst sharing her experience abroad on the season’s first demonstration,” said Chef Valentin.

“Even though there were no spectators this time, we strongly believe in education and opportunity as a path to success. We hope an event like this will serve to inspire the next generation of food and beverage professionals to achieve their best and offer hope that the sector has a strong future once the global pandemic is over.”

The event was held at Club Wyndham Denarau Island, a part of Club Wyndham South Pacific – the region’s largest timeshare club. The resort, a favourite among the club’s close to 60,000 owners, has been closed since March as COVID-19 restrictions have prevented some amenities at the property from restarting and the vast majority of club owners travelling to stay.

“Chef Valentin’s last MASTER CLASS FIJI was a huge success and we were privileged to host his latest initiative,” said Resort Manager, Kaydee George.

“The unique tastes we offer in Fiji and the quality of the food we plate up is one of our drawcards for domestic and international tourists and we hope MASTER CLASS FIJI will encourage our professionals to reach for even greater heights.”

The event will be streamed live at 9am Fiji time on the Master Class Fiji Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as appearing for delayed viewing later.

Club Wyndham Denarau Island was recently named best in the family hotel and resort category of TripAdvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice awards and seventh-best hotel or resort overall. The quality of its food and beverage was consistently mentioned in positive food and beverage venues.

Club Wyndham Denarau Island’s food and beverage outlets include Mamacita Restaurant & Bar, which specialises in gourmet Mexican food, and The Beach Shack café and bar, an all-day dining establishment providing a cross-cultural range of light meals. Ideally located just 15 minutes from Nadi Airport, the resort also has a lagoon-style swimming pool, adults’ only pool, kids’ club, day spa, gym and 24-hour reception.
