Staff at Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific Raise More Than $51,000 for Kids' Charities

GOLD COAST, QUEENSLAND (15 JANUARY, 2020) – Australian Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific staff raised more than AU$51,400 for a range of children’s charities in 2019 through the business’ philanthropic arm, Wishes by Wyndham.

Part of Full Circle, the global social responsibility program of Wyndham Destinations, the purpose of Wishes is to improve the lives of children and their families in the communities where Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific operates.

“This fundraising represents the hard work of our Wishes committee staff members who organise events and fundraising appeals themselves. It is a credit to our staff that they feel so passionate about supporting the communities around them,” said Senior Vice President Public Relations, Communications and Corporate Marketing, Ross Nicholas.

“Our staff have a proud tradition of giving to those who are less fortunate and have raised more than $400,000 since Wishes was created by the Asia Pacific team in 2009 and adopted globally.”

In the past year, Wishes has supported four different charities: HeartKids, Camp Quality, Act for Kids and The Smith Family.

Wishes is overseen by a committee of 21 Gold Coast based staff who raise funds through a range of methods, including events like an annual trivia night, raffles coinciding with the end of the year and end of the financial year, a regional fitness challenge and a workplace giving program.

The tally of AU$51,441.67 was raised by Australian staff, while offices and resorts in other countries gave the money they collected to children’s charities operating in their respective regions.

Wishes by Wyndham is a registered charity in its own right and collects funds with the objective of distributing all its proceeds to children’s charities.
